The Lady of Shalott - Alfred Lord Tennyson





              The Lady of Shalott was written in Victorian Age by Alfred Lord Tenyyson. But we can not sat this is a Victorian poem. This is a Romantic poem.

   Imagination, nature and individualism are the main themes of Romanticism. Romantic writter use this themes in their text. They write about nature, exotic places.
The Lady of Shalott is an Romantic poem, because in this poem we can see imagination and nature. The Poem begins with a description of a road and river. Here we can see nature, And some part of the poem we can see imagination.
  
     In addition, Romantics are interested in past like national myth. This poem is also related to the past. When we look generally we can see a name, Lancelott. Lancelott in Arthurian Legends and Arthur is a Celtic king. So, we can say this poem is related to the past.

   Result of these we can say, the lady of shalott is a romantic poem.
