The Battle of Sarikamish (Sarıkamış Harekatı) was an engagement between the Russian and Ottoman empires during World War I. It took place from December 22, 1914 to January 17, 1915 as part of the Caucasus Campaign.
This story is about my grand fathers memories. Just as I hear from his mounth.
My grandfather told that his father memories that he had heard from his father about Sarıkamış. And I will tell you some of them.
As you know 90 thousend soldier frooze in Sarıkamış in 1914. and relative of my grandfather's father participated in battle of Sarıkamış. and became a marty.
As my grandfather said that when his fathers relative join the war they didnt have enough food or dress, and weather condition were too hard to become alive and they didnt have thick dress.
and when they didnt find any food to eat they tried to eat snow, and sometimes they tried corn or wheat and barley these were horses food. and these happend around my town.
And as my grand father said that after war especially dogs and other wild animals living in this area became fat, overweight because they ate frozen soldiers.
